Something new.....

Missing my hubby tonight, who is working nights this week...sooo, decided to make a few things to pass the time! I finally tried crocheting with two pieces of yarn at the same time, the white hat is the result of this attempt. I have seen in several times in many patterns, but thought it would be too difficult...come to find out, it's just as easy as crocheting with one skein, it just leaves a neat, chunky effect to your creations. The brown hat was made with my normal one skein, but the flower turned into a neat pom-pom type embellishment after I just added more petals then what the pattern called for.

The colors of my rainbow

Sorry for the quick, almost legible post on these color swatches....was trying to post something in a timely manner. Here are the colors I work with most, but I do have a few others, which you can view on my post with the holder my husband, Justin, made. One day, I'll make a small flower in each color so anyone can see what the finished product would look like.

Cotton and Nylon, who knew there was a difference?

I would prefer to wear cotton, personally...however, when creating, I like the effect of nylon over cotton. The olive and aqua color flowers are made from nylon thread, which leaves a neat-looking sheen to the finished product...the purple and peach are made from cotton thread, which is still fun, just not as crisp looking....yes, this is a very rough looking picture, but I hope it helps in telling the difference between the two.

Just another day in crafting madness....

This is my little world I escape into when I want to create something...anything, really! It might be boring and cluttered to some, but it is where I become inspired and where I find peace and quiet : ) I hope one day my hubby will bring my chaise lounge chair from downstairs, upstairs to MY room. Justin, too, has his own room....the MAN CAVE is what he and Aidan call it....I can tell you it doesn't have nearly as much color as MY room...haha. Justin made me this neat, little thread/ribbon holder in his make-shift work shop...aka our garage! I can easily pull off the dowels to get to the thread I want and put it back in place in no time. My room stays mostly organized, but I'm not picky if something is out of place...I usually know where to find what I'm looking for, even under all the junk I still continue to collect.

The Two Men in My Life

Although Aidan is nearly 4 years old now (April 17th is his birthday), this is still one of my favorite pictures of he and his daddy, Justin. This picture was taken in our backyard, our first taste of snow in Georgia in Jan of 2008. I tend to have Kate pose with all of my girlie goodies, so I didn't want to leave my boys out!!

Funky Colors I'm working on

Still plugging away at two special requests for little flowers from my twin sis and her friend, Donna. I leave the little flowers "raw" to leave tails to the person's liking...it makes it easier for whomever is wanting to work with the flowers when they are ready...plus, less likely the knots will come out...you then just clip the tails off and glue, place brads or choose another route to adhere your flowers.

Our Precious Lil' Thing

Kate was a bit sleepy this morning, but it was a quick pic and then we were headed out the door for daycare and work. I think she prefers the smaller one I made for her, but I like the dimension in this one better. Her blue eyes are soooo purdy!!!

Flower Power Headbands

My first stab at crocheting a flower with actual dimension and now I'm hooked! This multicolored yarn is a new favorite of mine. It is 100% cotton and very easy to work with, stretches very little too. The flower was from a pattern I found online and the headband was freehanded and later added elastic to give it some stretch. Finally, I added a little "bling" (as my twin sis would say) smack in the center of the flower...only wish I would have had bigger embellishments for this one to make the middle stand out more.
